March 1998 – May 1999
In Mechanicsburg, PA I was introduced to the Bujinkan by then Shidoshi-ho Jamie Daniel and trained regularly.
May 1999 – April 2002
Jamie moved away from the area and I moved to Richmond, VA and did not train during this time.
April 2002 – May 2003
Met then nidan David Moorefield and trained regularly in Richmond, VA.
May 2003 – October 2003
Graduated college and spend time traveling and looking for work and did little training.
October 2003 – December 2003
Moved to Newport News, VA and met then nidan Jim King. Regular training resumed.
December 2003 – June 2005
Met then sandan Joe Rae. Jim and I joined his Karasukage Dojo (Tidewater Bujinkan Dojo) and the two of them shared teaching duties until Jim moved in May 2005. During this time I attended two Bud Malstrom seminars on Gyokko Ryu hosted by Tristar Martial Arts.
June 2005 – August 2006
Moved to Northern Virginia and trained frequently with Brian Ferrenz and Jong Cha of the BTSD Hanamizuki Shibu, Lauren Brandstein and Roger D’Souza of DC Bujinkan and less frequently with Jeff Mueller of the Magokoro Dojo. In February 2006 I also met Doug Tweedy of the Bujinkan Shima Dojo.

Assisted teaching the University of Richmond Taijutsu class that David Moorefield formerly taught and occasionally visited the Bujinkan Shima Dojo.

Created a local training group called the Richmond Kihon Shibu while training under my instructor Shidoshi Joe Rae whenever I can and with friends of the Bujinkan Shima Dojo. I received nidan in August.

Continued teaching Richmond Kihon Shibu classes and training at the Bujinkan Shima Dojo. Towards the end of the year David Moorefield moved to Northern Virginia.

Focused on teaching Richmond Kihon Shibu classes with a variety of ranked participants. None of the participants were actual students of mine. I never gave rank. They were students of friend and co-instructor nidan Richard Beckelheimer. David Moorefield would occasionally visit and teach.
